Bayou Classic 800-408 Stainless False Bottom/Steam Tray for Bayou Classic Model 1032/1308/800-408, 11.8-Inch Diameter

A fantastic, decently priced homebrew kettle.
I picked up this kettle a few months back for roughly $180. This kettle is a weld-less setup (meaning the spigot and thermometer are not welded directly onto the kettle) and does require some careful construction to insure no leakage. Both the spigot and the thermometer come with two silicone o-rings for the inside and outside of the kettle. The key is to tighten the nuts enough that they are secure, but not too tight as this can actually cause some leaking. On the first brew day I had a few drips leak from the thermometer as I was heating up the water, but it stopped within 3 minutes.

The stainless-steel false bottom works very well for my setup, but if you are hoping to use it as a lauter tun, I would recommend attaching the bazooka screen at the same time in case any grain falls below it (there is a trick to this, there is a very specific angle the false bottom can be turned to to fit both in at the same time.

For reference, I have been using this for a...

Well made!
I am a stove top all-grain BIAB brewer, I have completed three 5 Gal brews using this product. I can say that this product is well made and has exceeded my expectations at this price point. I paid $220 shipped. The quality of the material is excellent.

As a BIAB brewer, I am limited in the amount of grain that I can use due to the size of the pot. For 5 Gal brews, I will limit my grain bills to 10#. For this reason I would recommend the 10 Gal model. I will likely move to 4 Gal brews in the future.

The supports on the false bottom interfere with the Stainless tube-shaped filter screen. As a result, it isn't seamless to get the false bottom in place. You need to play around with it to get it into place. As a result, I've given the product 4 stars. Happy brewing!

the pot is solid enough, but the thermometer doesn't work.
I have only brewed with this once, and the finished beer isn't ready to drink yet,but I think I can comment on the pot's quality overall.I have no major complaints about the solidity of the pot,but I dropped it once, about maybe one foot, onto a hard tile floor, and I can see where the pot warped slightly. And I mean on the bottom, which is supposed to be a thick tri-ply construction.Okay,it's not a huge warp, but it's visible.Other than that,I can't say that the pot isn't physically solid
.As far as the brewing process is concerned, there was no scorching on the pot during the mash, but I got a stuck mash the very first time I used it,and it happened after I had already recirculated my wort a couple of times. It was from the torpedo screen,I'm quite sure.I had to transfer the mash to my old setup that this unit was supposed to replace and proceed from there.I managed to make a smooth transition and produce a wort with good clarity, and my mash efficiency still checked out at about...

Bayou Classic 7414 14" Round Cast Iron Reversible Griddle

not pleased
The first delivery proved it's fragility when there was a chip on the rim of the grill side, allowing any fluids to seep through.
Amazon, themselves, were wonderful. They provided shipping back to their facility and send out another identical product in it's place at no additional charge to myself.
The second arrived unscathed. On the second run of making quesadillas; we hear a loud shatter type sound. The unit must of had a weak spot and caused a 4 inch long crack from edge inward toward center of unit rendering it useless.
In the end; the unit is not to par and I recommend Lodge Pro Logic Pizza Pan which serves same as griddle (no grill side(obviously)). Worth it

Cast Iron Griddle
This is a nice griddle. All surfaces are smooth and it cooks nicely. I had one disappointment and it has to do with packaging for shipment. The griddle arrived in a fairly lightweight, very skimpy box and as a result a 2 inch piece of the rim was broken off in shipment.

NOTHING better for steaks!!!
I can understand the previous not-so-favorable reviews, however I did not have a hard time conditioning the pan or keeping it up. The only time it got funky was after I left it outside, my own fault completely. I can say though that regardless of the time it spent outside it was fine after a little TLC.

To get to the point... this pan rocks. Im a 36yo guy living in downtown Chicago that takes advantage of the best steak restaurants in the city. Id like to think I have a fairly sound opinion on the bone in ribeye. This little grill pan when used the right way works flawlessly. The trick on steaks is the initial sear, youve got to slap them down on something well treated, and ridiculously hot. Resting this pan above a charcoal (gotta be briquettes) filled smoker base will get this thing glowing pink. Depending on the thickness of the steak (4-5min for 1.5" thick) is the time it needs to stay on to reach a perfect sear. Pull em off, let sit for the amount of time it takes to...
