Well made and heavy enough
My wife has wanted a good cast-iron Dutch oven for a long time and when this item showed up at a reasonable price, we bought one. The item arrived EXTREMELY well packed and without a mar or a scratch. The interior glaze was flawless and the exterior was excellent.
This Dutch oven has been used for both stove-top and oven cooking (as they are designed to do) with excellent results. OK, most of that has to do with the fact that my bride is an excellent cook; but, this Dutch oven is heavy enough to provide excellent heat distribution and avoid hot spots. By the same token, it is not so unnecessarily heavy as to cause back strain or a hernia (I've lifted a few of those).
Cleaning has proven to be easy enough by simply soaking the interior with soapy water and using a NON-abrasive, nylon covered cleaning sponge to avoid any damage to the interior glaze. If you want something you can quickly scrub clean with an abrasive cleaner or scrubber, don't buy this item; it...
Heavy as it should be.
Wanted an oval shaped dutch oven because so many things just don't fit in a round pot. I decided to go cheap figuring that if was not up to the task I could chuck it with minimal loss. I fell in love with this dutch oven. The handles are nice and big and let me get a good grip to move it around, The lid is a tight fit, perfect for braising. This is my new favorite go to pot.
Good buy
I received this as a gift, and LOVE IT!!! It cooks evenly, cleans up easy with soaking in warm water. Perfect use for stove top and oven. I have not had any problems with rusting like you would a traditional cast iron if you let it air dry. I love it so much I'm buying one for my mother in-law!!!
