Perfect for me
After reading the other review I was a little afraid to order but when I received it I found it was the perfect size for what I wanted. It's only 7" deep, 8" wide from back corner to back corner (where the handle is) and 6" across from the handle to the front "V". It fits inside my large stockpots, stewpot, tamale pot, & even my 10 qt. saucepan even though I'll only be able to utilize the lower 3 or 4 inches of the basket because the saucepan only has a depth of 5 inches. My basket didn't come with a warning label on the handle either. I live in California so it should if it had any of those chemicals in it. In the meantime I'm loving this thing. I'm using it mainly as a blancher though I may use it for pasta occasionally. Food doesn't float out of the top, the water stays boiling inside it, I don't have to hang on to it while the food is blanching, & it's easy to remove from the water. Everything I wanted.
Industrial Size -buy at your own risk-
Unless you have a huge pot you do not want this. This is an industrial kitchen size insert and won't fit an average size large pot.
I ordered two but only one fit in my pot rendering it useless; however I have since ordered a Update International APSA-POT Aluminum Pasta Cooker Pot, 20-Quart (also industrial so it's large and will take up a large portion of your stove when in use) and they fit perfectly inside the pot.
On the insert handle is a sticker that says "the handle of this product may contain chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm".
While the handle may never actually touch the food, I wouldn't have purchased this item if it had been on the product description.
